Micho turns focus to CHAN

focus shifts from the World Cup to Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) preparations with the Super League as a key buildup.

Cranes coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevich will starting today continue with his scouting as the league resumes.
Micho and the Cranes return today in time for local football’s biggest competition that will be back with Proline hosting Police and Express taking on Vipers.
The Serbian tactician must have been impressed by CHAN talents like Brian Majwega, Hassan Wasswa, Dennis Iguma and Frank Kalanda that featured in Uganda’s match against Senegal in Morocco.
Others like Savio Kabugo and Richard Kasasa didn’t play against the Lions of Teranga, but gained priceless experience after camping with the Cranes for close to a month.
Uganda put up a spirited fight only to succumb to a late goal that had the West Africans snatch Group J’s sole slot to the final qualifier to the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The league offers Micho with a rich talent spotting ground for the CHAN competition that is restricted to locally based players.
Uganda will be making its second appearance in the biennial competition whose forthcoming finals will be in South Africa in January.
Besides the league, Micho also has the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in November to further strengthen his troops.

The spotlight in this evening’s league games will be on Wankuluku where giants Vipers will be paying a visit to the Red Eagles.
Six time champions Express will be all out for a win in their quest to regain local football’s biggest trophy that they last won in 2012. Bunamwaya, champions in 2010, are equally a team to watch.
At Lugogo’s KCCA stadium, the Proline versus Police match also has all the makings of an exciting encounter.
